Breathe. Just Breathe.
Like every girl from my time I remember when Drew Barrymore uttered these words in Ever After before walking down the aisle to her happy. She said this in a defiant, Just Breathe – everything is going to be ok.
The calming nature of breath.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. Marcus Aurelius
I have never been one to take my breathing for granted. Seeing as how I have had asthma since I was a small fry – breathing is a big deal to me. Just as labored breathing is scary, every time. You never get used to asthma attacks and side effects.
I have, however; taken the simple act of breathing to steady myself for granted. So much power is held within our breath, it is a magical stress relieving every day activity.; that only takes a second to calm you!
There is power in the breath. I never understood this when I was powerlifting, I know right – dumb me; but I could/would breathe during my sets. I couldn’t stop myself. I just didn’t take the time to see how they were interwoven and beneficial. Yoga and pranayama breath – For breath is life, and if you breathe well you will live long on earth. Sanskrit proverb
Breathing with awareness, restores the balance within; breathing is influenced by our thoughts just as our thoughts can be influenced by our breath. There are many yoga practices with breath that I find useful… holding breath to move within poses and doing motions based on inhales and exhales.
This directly helps me when I do lift – I focus on using my breath to help me achieve movement and keep my body tight during the work. I wish I could/would have followed this during my powerlifting days!!
This has also helped me with my asthma, I am more conscious and aware of how my thoughts can effect an attack. Being scared because my breathing is restricted isn’t going to help anyone – but slowing my breath and making them as deep as I can, focuses energy into the moment and the breath. This focus, this stillness; helps deepen my breath.
Healing is every breath. Thich Nhat Hanh
I am thankful for my breath.
Having Lupus, having anxiety, and having asthma can be a recipe for disaster.
Anxiety = STRESS
Asthma = STRESS
STRESS = FLARES
Calming breath = freedom.
Lupus = fatigue, fatigue = STRESS.
Energy breath = freedom.
There is freedom in breath. There is change in breath.
Breathing = positive vibes.
